The Stevenage and District Model Railway Club is an established & thriving model railway club. Our membership covers a diverse range of interests, in various scales, both UK & foreign, from the steam era to today’s modern image.
We are always pleased to welcome new members including junior members (over 10 years of age) who must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Meetings are held in our own premises, the former Baptist Chapel in the village of Datchworth, Hertsfordshire, only 15 minutes by car south of Stevenage town centre, and free car parking is available in the adjacent village hall car park.
We have three layouts; a permanent ‘O’ gauge, a portable ‘OO’ gauge and a portable ‘N’ gauge which are both exhibited at model railway exhibitions.
(moves to Tuesday on Bank Holidays)

|‘O’, ‘OO’ and ‘N’ Gauge Running|
|Thursday||10:00 – 13:00||‘O’, ‘OO’ and ‘N’ Gauge Running|
Please note, we are in the process of reopening in line with Covid regulations. We are now open on Monday and Wednesday (both sessions), but not yet open for the Thursday morning sessions. We hope to fully reopen in the near future.
Thursday mornings are primarily to give members the opportunity to run DCC on two of the four running lines on the ‘O’ gauge. DC running will still be available on the two remaining ‘O’ gauge lines as well as the ‘OO’ and ‘N’ gauge layouts.
Members also receive a regular club newsletter via e-mail.
Additional club social events include slide shows/quiz/second-hand sales, visits to model railway exhibitions, preserved railways & other places of interest.
For more information, please come along to one of our weekly meetings where you can see what we do, and have a chat over a cuppa and biscuit. Please contact the Membership Secretary if you wish to visit to ensure we are expecting you.
